While the visual qualities in these works are in dialogue with painting, my processes are largely rooted in construction. My paintings are process-based, built objects comprised of a highly refined set of materials. I try to always listen to my materials to identify their most natural tendency, and then construct a set of conditions where the materials can act freely. I want my paintings to make a blunt, physical statement and an honest declaration of their materiality.
